Accessibility

BAQ Body Sculpting wants this website to work for everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification.

What we are working toward

This site is built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.1, at Level AA. That is the standard most commonly used for public websites.

Some specific things we have done:

  • Body text is set at 18 pixels with generous line spacing, and no sentence on this site is smaller than 16 pixels.
  • Text and background colors have been checked for contrast, and the combinations used meet or exceed the required ratios.
  • Every image that carries meaning has a text description.
  • The site works without a mouse. Every link, button, and form field can be reached and used with a keyboard.
  • The site works on a phone and reflows rather than requiring you to scroll sideways.

What we know is not perfect

The main navigation menu is built in a way that lets it work without JavaScript, which is good for reliability. The tradeoff is that some screen readers announce the menu items as checkboxes rather than as menu buttons. It works, but it does not describe itself as clearly as it should. We are looking at this.

The assistant in the corner of the page, Bea, is a third-party tool. We have limited control over how it presents itself to assistive technology.

We are a small practice and this site is new. There are almost certainly things we have not caught.

If something does not work

Please tell us. This is the most useful thing you can do, and we would genuinely rather know.

Call the studio at 920-450-0210 or email bronwyn@baqbodysculpting.com. Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you were using if you know. We will get back to you and we will fix what we can.

If the website is in your way, you can always book by phone instead.
